Two drawers, to be exact. That’s right, I made over not one but two drawers this week. Woohoo! Break out the party-hats and confetti-canons!
The cutlery drawer that I tackled last week was tame when compared with our unruly utensils drawer. There’s no organisation. Just chuck it in mate, anywhere’s fine.
Then we have our wraps drawer. It’s … meh, okayish. Like a crazy person, I’ve been saving brown paper bags in case I need them one day. I never actually use them and they get all smooshed at the back every time we slide the cling wrap roll back in. But I sleep soundly knowing that they’re in there if ever I need them.
This is what our kitchen looked like all week. Utensils stored in a wet-wipes box. Drawers being painted on top of the stovetop.
If I enjoyed cooking in the slightest I’m sure this disruption to our kitchen would drive me insane. Luckily, I’m a complete barbarian who will happily eat chickpeas from a can and call it a meal.
I sorted my pile of utensils by type (spoons, tongs, miscellaneous crap, etc) to figure out how many dividers I would need. Then to make the utensils drawer less cramped, I decided to steal a bit of room from the wraps drawer below it.
Empty the drawers, clean, paint, glue in dividers … you know the drill.
I’m happy with my progress on our kitchen so far. Admittedly, I started with drawers which are easier than cupboards. But hey, baby steps.
